The Thekla is probably the most unique bar / night club in Bristol...  Located down by the Mud Dock, you will find the Thekla afloat packed with people that like to experience something a little different on their night out in Bristol.

The Thekla is one of the city’s oldest and best loved clubs. Hosting various nights, from house to break beats to contemporary indie and guitar-orientated music, the crowd attracted is a good mix.

This is an excellent venue to chill out in the summer on the decks, but it can also be an excellent venue to visit in the winter as you will be huddled up within the crowds, especially when a band is playing.

The showboat was based on the idea of creating, owning, and running a theatre on a sea-going ship and using it to showcase music of every sort (limited only by the size of the hold), including cabaret, comedy, plays, musicals, and poetry events.

The ship also contained an art gallery ...  We believe that the white reaper graffiti art was painted as a tribute from BANKSY - a famous undercover artist that grew up in Bristol.

The only downside we feel to the Thekla is that it is rather small..  The capacity is hit very easily, so if you are the type of person that likes to be huddled up with respect for others then you will be fine, however for people that do not like a crowded atmosphere then you may want to give it a miss.
