Basement 45  opened  on Friday 27th February 2009. Located on Frogmore Street (underneath the Banksy on Park st) it was known formerly as the Mandrake.

The club is laid out over one level ,and, as the  name suggests was originally used as cellars and Basements for the town houses on Unity street. For those that frequented the Mandrake at any point over the last 40 plus years that it has been open, you will have no doubt been struck, as we have by the character of the buildings and fantastic layout of the club, you may have been less struck by the condition of the toilets and general dated appearance of the venue.

They have fully updated the fixtures and fittings (particularly the toilets) as part of a thorough refurbishment. We have also updated the bars, DJ Booths, dance floors, seating and entrance way.

Basement 45 has a capacity of around 300 and has 2 bars and 2 dance floors. Musically the club is diverse with Saturdays  ( "Bounce" ) being largely underground House and Electro  and  featuring the best local, national and international DJ talent. Guests over the last three months include : Kelevra, Heavy Feet, Stupid Fresh, Jaimie Fanatic, Hijack and Foamo. Future guests include The Loose Cannons, The Young Punx, Basskleph, Mowgli and TV Rock .  the 5th saturday (when there is one) is Twisted, please see listings for full event details. Fridays are run by external promoters and range from tech house nights to Drum n' Bass, breaks, funk, disco, electro and Dubstep. Property of Bristol host the 1st friday of the month with Futureboogie,Kingpin, Sureskank Convention, Torque, In:session, Nowt to do and Tutti Frutti staging regular events on rotation. Midweek  see's a wide variety of nights, ranging from club events to student nights. Just Jack also stage a monthly afterhours party called the Jack On, usually on the second sunday (see listings) Basement 45 is also  available for private hire, in part (one room) or in it's entirety.
