About Us:
BristolNightlife.com kicked off in 2006 as a group of lads who simply just loved to party, hitting Bristol's bars and night clubs more or less every weekend! Our team have been living in Bristol all of their lives and as we were constantly getting asked where the best place to go is, we felt the need to explain and recommend the superb nightlife of Bristol.

We know Bristol like the back of our hands, and we still try to go out almost every weekend to see what’s going on in the clubbing scene and to monitor any changes to the bars & clubs. We review clubs from the public’s point of view, not like other Bristol websites that rate clubs based on what clubs pay.

There are a lot of Bristol related sites cropping up, but most of them are owned by a venue in Bristol trying to promote itself, giving people false information about other bars & night clubs. BristolNightlife.com offers you a true, non biased review of Bristol's bars & clubs... No false information will be found here.

Members from our team are aged between 18 and 25, therefore we know what younger people like & dislike. This is why we can, without a doubt, provide you with a clear and accurate review of Bristol city centre's bars & night clubs.

We concentrate on the town centre as it is the place to be for an excellent night out. If you have never been to Bristol, you will most likely get attracted to the most obvious bars and nightclubs...

This is where our role comes into place, to point you in the right direction for a seriously good night out.

There are a few bars and small clubs missing, however all of the best venues have been reviewed, but we keep adding and won’t stop until all of Bristol's venues are covered that are worthy of a good night out! We are the biggest and best site dedicated to the nightlife in Bristol.

  8. @CConey: For that age range I would highly recommend either Walkabout or Reflex. Reflex is on Baldwin street just minutes away from Jongleurs and plays mostly 80’s music with a touch of 90’s cheese. Walkabout on the other hand is a bit further away but plays current chart music downstairs and a mixture of cheese upstairs from the 80’s 90’s and today. Hope you have a great night!

  10. After seeing so many mixed reviews on Syndicate me and my friend decided to give it a chance on Saturday night, what with the Hoff being there. I’ve never seen such a poor excuse for a super club in all my life - admittedly most drinks are £1.95 but because of this, there are loads of people which are completely off of their face – which the bouncers are somewhat slow at dealing with. Whilst me and my friend were waiting at the bar, someone was sick over the bar and the floor and it took in excess of 20 minutes before a member of staff dealt with this, in the meantime, people were walking through it… Most of the floor surfaces were very sticky (the carpets in particular could do with a clean) and my shoes kept on sticking to the floor. I have to say I won’t be going back in a hurry and will be sticking to what I know best, either Java or Oceana.

  18. It might be, it's all a bit up in the air. Adminstrators need to decide what to do, then will base a decision on whether they will try and sell it as a going concern or just strip the place and sell the parts.

  25. Hi everyone, I'm looking for somewhere in bristol that ooozes class. Somewhere with fine liquor, that plays cool jazz or has a guy playing background piano in the corner. A place where you would feel good going in a suit on an awesome first date. Any thoughts? The music is a must for me as I think it provides the atmosphere. (NB when I say jazz, think more big band/ swing etc. than world fusion!) I look to your expertise for the answer :)

  26. Hey please can someone help me with this!!! Im 17 and not 18 for a while and live near bristol... there is so many places I can't get into as a lot of my friends are 18/19... is there anywhere good in bristol that under 18s can get into? Or that is easy on the i.d'ing? I do look older but most places ID anyway these days... Where do you suggest that is a good night for a 17 year old?? Cheers guys

  45. Just check the top 5 venues.. Oceana is very good, and Reflex is good for the cheese!

  47. I have a stag party of 28 coming to bristol on saturday 30th july, what are the best clubs that we can end up in at end of night and will we have trouble with large numbers?

(Posted on 2011-07-23 15:00:00 by Jay)
  48. Any good largish clubs open this monday?

(Posted on 2011-07-23 12:49:00 by Jess)
  49. @Mossy: Pubs are not strict on footwear but some of the bars and most of the clubs are. We would recommend wearing shoes. We also recommend that you split into smaller groups when queuing as some venues will turn a large group away.

@Kristine: For a mixture of ages we would have to say go to Oceana, as there is something in there for everyone. BSB or Lloyds on the waterfront would be a good bar to start off in.

@Zoe: We would recommend Java for this, as it tends to attract a more mature audience. If you fancy cheese however, then Reflex on Baldwin Street is for you!

@Alun Jones: Most clubs are stag friendly providing that you are being sensible. Lloyds on the waterfront is a good place to start off, or Eton on Baldwin Street if a cocktail is more your thing.

@Allan: We would recommend shoes, rather than trainers as some places will not let you in otherwise.

@xJakeyEvsx: A Friday night would be best, we would recommend Phat Fridays in Oceana.

  50. Hey me and a group of 10 lads are heading to Bristol from Ireland for a friend's birthday at the end of August. Are pubs/nightclubs strict on footwear? Will any pubs refuse us going in as such a large group? Thanks

  51. I am going to have a big 3-0 bday party on 27 August...there will be a range of ages ...any ideas of good bars/clubs/venues with music?

  52. We're planning a hen night in Bristol this September. Most of us are in our late 20s/early 30s and want to avoid places full of teenagers (especially chavvy ones). We won't be dressed as bunnygirls or smurfs either! We'd like to go to a few bars with a good atmosphere and rock/indie/old skool music and then head to a decent late night club playing funky house or something similar where we can dance until our feet hurt. Do you have any suggestions? Ta x

(Posted on 2011-07-09 15:52:00 by Zoe)
  53. Hi,

I am bringing a group of 14 to Bristol for a stag do on the Saturday of the harbour festival, just wondering which clubs if any are fancy dress fiendly, and what are the best pubs/bars to go to?

  54. A group of 10 are coming down on Thursday 21st July for a work meeting and were wondering if we can get into most place on the thursday and friday night wearing trainers???

  55. Alright there? Me and 8 other mates are heading to Bristol at the end of a July for a night out. We don't know whether to go on Thursday or Friday? Could you help with which night is busiest and possible locations? Is Thursday student night?
    Cheers, Jake.

(Posted on 2011-07-05 14:29:00 by xJakeyEvsx)
  56. Hi Francesca, Oceana is currently the best venue in Bristol. Whether students nights are on or off it is still Bristol's busiest night club so yes it will still be good, just how busy on a Monday not to sure. Most of the people that used to go to Panache now go to Oceana, and they put some brilliant nights on.

(Posted on 2011-06-18 13:26:00 by BN: Admin)
  57. Just wondering if Oceana is still open on monday nights throughout the summer even though they don't have their student night on

Would this still be a decent place to end up on a monday? Or probably the best place to go? What is bristol like on a monday night?

(Posted on 2011-06-13 17:27:00 by Francesca)
  58. @Billy East: The next under 18's night in Bristol is at Oceana on 24th July. Thanks, Ed.

(Posted on 2011-06-10 16:56:00 by Billy East)
  60. @Kellydanc:
I would recommend going to the ICE room at oceana. They play a good variety of music.

    @Lisa:
If you go to hotels on the top menu, you can find one near where you are planning to drink for the night.

(Posted on 2011-05-28 14:56:00 by BN: Ed)
  61. Me and a few friends are thinking of coming up for an 18th. we are wondering where the best place to stay would be?

(Posted on 2011-05-22 13:07:00 by lisa ann borgia)
  62. 15 of us are coming up on Sat 28th for a hen. Think we're staying next to waterfront. Will we have a good night if we stay down there + go to oceana??? (if so-where would you recommend in the waterfront)? We r 25-29 year olds. Like funky house/pop etc.
Or is it worth going into town centre?? x

(Posted on 2011-05-20 19:29:00 by Kellydanc)
  63. Hi Jo Jo.. if you are looking for a more mature audience then I would suggest Java.. have a look at Java cocktail bar & club under the reviews menu.

(Posted on 2011-05-14 15:29:00 by BN: Admin)
  64. where is good for twenty year olds on a saturday night? All the main clubs seem to be full of 12 year old these days!

  67. Panache has closed down, however the Phat Friday's, and Paparrazzi events from panache with the same team are being held at Oceana night club on Fridays, and Platform 1 on Saturday's. Panache will most likely rebrand and re-open. It's all happening at Oceana at the moment, so for a good night head down the waterfront and finish up in Oceana and the Gala Casino!

(Posted on 2011-05-04 22:24:00 by BN: Admin)

  76. @Jordon & Jasmine: We strongly recommend using either a passport or driving license when on a night out in Bristol as all Bars and Clubs will accept them. The pass card does not seem to be accepted in most venues.

  77. my mate had a pss card and no where in bristol accept them but this was last year may of changed

  78. hi due to me not having a passprt or driving liscence i have one of those pss cards. the pass card i got is a UK citenzen card. but i know not every club accepts these type of ID's . so i was wondering if you knew which clubs did accept them ? thankyou x

  79. @Steve: Yes we are fully aware of this; there are plenty of other places in Bristol to check out for a great night out! The Panache team are at present still running their events but within other clubs. We will keep the site updated as and when we know more.

  80. Panache hasn't got a technical fault. They havent' got a licence and were allowed a temporary one until the court date. After the horrific fight there two weeks ago, they have shut. And are unlikely to ever reopen. Panache is gone it would seem...

  84. Hi we are a mixed female/male group from birmingham aged between 21-30 looking for somewhere good in Bristol on a saturday night. May bank holiday weekend....any suggestions??? Thanx

  85. @Ian/Gilly: There is always something happening in Bristol. Its a bit to early for any events but the waterfront is very nice in the sun and a few ciders :) Bristol doesn't only rely on students. Bristol is a busy city all year round.
@Ankie: I think oceana is a good on a monday night, You have lloyds which is next door and sales cheapish drinks. Also have The Bunker (top of park st) which is mainly for students.

    Cheers
    Rikky

  87. What is Bristol like in the summer, around July? Do all the students go home?

(Posted on 2011-03-25 16:55:00 by Gilly)
  88. Thinking of heading to Bristol in July. Is there much happening then or does it die after all the students leave for the summer?

  89. panache is good.. syndicate is full of students.. which i think personally has ruined it
syndicate used to be a good dance club, now its cheap and tacky and there is trouble in there, students are usually alot worse for fighting (mainly the guys)
oceana is pretty good but to expensive.
panache is middle priced good music and lots of woman

  90. im a student and have been to both panache and syndicate on a friday night, my personal experience is that panache is a very moody ethnic crowd on a friday with quite a bit of trouble but this is from what i saw delt with pretty quickly.. the music is awesome!... syndicate however is 90% students with very little trouble from what i saw, might be wrong but i find it hard to believe syndicate has alot of trouble seen as its full of students who are lovers not fighters lol. the music in syndicate is more broad but also good.

  91. panache is awesome, me and my girlfriends always go to panache as its the most stylish club in bristol the general type of people in panache are more sexy and well dressed compared to other venues. the roughest place weve been to is syndicate and thats near panache so i wouldnt be surprised if the fighting is caused from idiots coming out of there

  92. hey guys. I'm born and bred bristolian and want to try out a few other clubs around bristol, but I have heard alot of negativity from different people about some of the clubs. I am a regular at the Bierkellar on a saturday night, and I see a load of fights outside Panache, which was one club I really wanted to try out - but am avoiding for risk of getting stabbed!

I appreciate where ever there is too much alcohol, there will be some violence, but it seems to be every friday night. the worst violence you'll find in the Bierkellar would be mosh pits - and it's not fighting, it's shoving.

what are other people's reviews on Panache?

    Thanks!

  96. Hi Bev, Sorry to hear your daughter has had problems gaining entry into clubs. We are unable to comment on why the clubs do not allow the citizen card. I would recommend contacting the clubs directly, The contact details can be found on the review pages.

    Cheers
